Dancing with the Devil

The Concept

Dancing with the Devil explores mental health through the psychological concept of the “blind spot” - the parts of ourselves we cannot fully see, yet which quietly shape our emotions, behaviors, and perception of the world.

Inspired by Demi Lovato’s personal journey and her experiences with physical and emotional blind spots, the project examines the idea that everyone carries their own “devil”: an inner space of fear, vulnerability, struggle, and unresolved emotion. Rather than treating this darkness as something to defeat, the project considers what happens when we begin to recognize it, confront it, and learn to live alongside it.

The visual language of the collection translates this internal struggle through layers, distortion, restriction, and transformation. Black gradually spreads across the garments like an unseen force becoming visible, while exposed seams, manipulated textiles, and evolving silhouettes reflect a body and mind in constant change.

The butterfly became a symbol of this process - fragile, beautiful, and defined by transformation. Through it, Dancing with the Devil reflects on vulnerability and resilience, suggesting that growth does not necessarily mean escaping our darker parts, but learning to understand them as part of who we are.
